I call this photo “Adam 0, Caleb + Sweet Potatoes 1.” I generally try to keep the hands out of the whole feeding process, but that’s generally fighting a battle that I can’t win. Some days are better than others…this dinner last night was one where he wanted to take control a bit.
So, I don’t know if this is just something weird that happens when I feed Caleb, or if others have experienced this phenomenon, but the other day, I noticed the weirdest thing. There were a couple bites when I would put the food on the spoon and feed it to him, and it wouldn’t quite get into his mouth, but all he had to do was lick his lips to get the food in…and then I licked my lips.
Another time he had gotten a bit too much food in one spoonful, and it was clear that he was trying to swallow but having a little bit of a rough time…and then I swallowed.
Another time I started moving my mouth around a bit…thinking that somehow, by doing that, his mouth was magically going to start moving.
I find it a very odd phenomenon that I’m experiencing while feeding Caleb. Is this just me, or have others experienced this as well?
Oh yes, I mimic every bite with the baby. I can’t help myself. I try not to do it. But every. single. bite. I mimic.
