I can make Caleb smile.
And I think that’s pretty awesome.
In the past couple weeks, Caleb has been super-smiley in the morning. There are a few other photos below in case you need proof!
This is a pretty huge deal. Just this afternoon when Sarah was gone, he started screaming. Like…really screaming. After unsuccessfully trying to get him to suck on the pacifier, instead of screaming like a banshee, I walked into the hallway where it was just a little bit brighter, and then I saw it. He had stopped screaming…and was looking up at me…smiling.
I made a few über goofy adult-talking-to-baby type of noises, and then his smile got bigger. Just like that. Screaming banshee to the cutest little baby on the planet…and I like to think I had something to do with it.
Sure, I think he was shitting his diaper at the same time, but…there’s no need to focus on that.
I know that this is just the beginning of more and more of his personality coming through, more and more of these precious smiles…and it’s a pretty wonderful thing. I know that even in those moments when the little dude is driving me crazy, I’m falling more and more in love with him.
