As many around the world are celebrating the birth of a baby boy today, today marks 2 months since our two baby boys both entered and left this world. I’m feeling a mix of emotions today and know there are so many around the world who just try to grin and bear it through the holidays. Sarah and I had both envisioned a much different Christmas this year. I was looking forward to taking pictures of how huge her belly was, and while I’m sure she wouldn’t have necessarily appreciated that, it would have been pretty amazing because of the two lives that were continuing to develop inside of her.
And so today, we do celebrate the birth of a baby boy, who turned this world upside down. And we honor and remember both the birth and death of our two baby boys, who turned our world upside down. I wanted to share with you a prayer that my best friend Steve sent to me shortly after we lost Micah and Judah. Steve and I have been best friends since 4th grade, and so it was especially meaningful to receive this from him.
An Offering

Micah who resembles God, in your smallness, in your innocence, in your brevity
Judah, praised one, in your smallness, in your innocence, in your brevity
know that you are loved
we cry for longing for the hour you were with us
our garments are torn
know that you are loved
Micah who resembles God, in the immensity of your place in our hearts, in your innocence, in your eternity
Judah, praised one, in the immensity of your place in our hearts, in your innocence, in your eternity
know that you are loved
we cry for longing for the hours you will not be with us
our garments are torn
know that you are loved
