There are some YouTube videos of a young boy reciting Billy Collins poetry that are just amazing. I was going to just embed the video here but for some reason, the owner has disabled embedding. At any rate – this kid is so talented…Sarah saw this and was just amazed. The inflection he uses is just brilliant. The first one we watched was the 3 year old reciting “Litany” by Billy Collins. Watch the boy do it first – and then listen to Billy Collins read it here. Sarah was remarking that while Billy Collins reads it as a humorous poem, listening to the kid recite it, you could almost imagine it being used in worship in a church service.
A second Billy Collins poem was posted yesterday – and you can watch him recite “Walking Across the Atlantic.” This is pretty great stuff – and Sarah and I are already wondering what we can get Dwayne & Wayne to memorize. I’m thinking some long section from Joseph Heller’s Catch-22; some dialogue with Major Major Major Major or with Yossarian – wouldn’t that be lovely? Or maybe something from Clockwork Orange? Oh the possibilities are endless!

Hosea loves reading and reciting poetry! His faves are “The Owl and the Pussycat” and “The Jabberwocky”.

Oh yes, Catch-22 would be just great!! Talking all about Snowden’s guts and all…On another note, I always used to read these two poems with my Grandma called “The Duel” and “The Sugar-Plum Tree.” “The Duel” was about a gingham dog and a calico cat and “The Sugar-Plum Tree” was all about a tree of candy 🙂

Wait………..are you saying it “wasn’t” about a tree of candy…………?
